When removing a password makes sense

Password-protected PDFs are sensible in transit but painful in daily use: bank statements that demand a code every time they open, payslips locked to a scheme like your date of birth, e-tickets that can't be printed at a kiosk, archived contracts that ask for credentials nobody remembers using. Once a document is stored somewhere you already trust, the password often just gets in the way.
