When merging PDFs is useful
Combining documents is useful for reports, invoice bundles, signed agreements with annexes, and scanned paperwork. You need at least two PDFs; the tool joins them into one file in the order you choose.
The file list controls the order: the first PDF becomes the first part of the result, followed by the next PDF. Mixed page sizes are allowed. Each page keeps its own size and is placed in the combined document without being stretched to match the other files.
Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked before merging. Bookmarks and outlines are not carried into the new file. Page content is copied, but forms, signatures, annotations, and document metadata may not survive exactly as they were in the source files, so check the result before relying on it.
What may not carry over after merging
Merging joins whole PDFs end to end; it does not let you rearrange individual pages inside a document. Use Rearrange PDF Pages when you need to move, rotate, or remove specific pages.
The merged file is a newly created document. Although the visible page content is normally retained, interactive forms, digital signatures, annotations, bookmarks, and metadata can be changed or dropped during reconstruction. Open the result and confirm important fields and links before sending it.
Each uploaded file can be up to 100 MB. Keep password-protected files unlocked first, and retain the original PDFs as a backup.
Your files never leave your device
The PDFs you merge here are combined entirely on your own computer — the files, and the merged result, are never sent over the network.
Most online PDF sites upload your document to their servers, process it there, and keep a copy for minutes, hours, or longer. PilotPDF works differently: the page downloads a small processing engine into your browser, and your file is opened and edited in your device's memory using WebAssembly. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing for a server to store, leak, or scan. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.
