Photos and scanned documents
100 KB is a common limit for document uploads such as a scanned ID card, a mark sheet photographed with a phone, or a proof-of-address image. At this size a page of text stays readable if the scan is reasonably sharp to begin with.
For scans, crop away the table or background around the paper before compressing. Empty space still costs bytes, and removing it leaves more room for the text you need to be readable.
How the size is reached
The tool looks for the highest JPG quality that keeps the file under 100 KB. If even low quality isn't enough, it reduces the pixel dimensions step by step. You'll see the final width, height and size before you download.
If you need a PDF rather than an image, convert the compressed image with JPG to PDF, or compress an existing PDF with the PDF size tools.
